About Malacologica Bohemoslovaca journal
Scope
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca accepts manuscripts on all aspects of the
continental (terrestrial & freshwater) molluscs from the Western
Palaearctic, with particular focus on Central Europe. These mainly
include faunistics, systematics, molecular genetics, ecology, and
palaeoecology.
Our story
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca (ISSN 1336-6939) is an online-only open access peer-reviewed journal, run by the community of Czech and Slovak malacologists and published by the Department of Botany and Zoology, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. Established as printed proceedings from the annual meeting of the Czech and Slovak malacological community in 2002, it has been published in its current online form since 2005.
The first volume was published in 2002. Volumes 1–3 (2002–2003) were
published in print by the Department of Zoology and Fisheries, Czech
University of Life Sciences Prague (vol. 1–2, 2002–2003) and Faculty
of Science, Charles University (vol. 3, 2005), respectively.
Since volume 4 (2005) the journal is online-only. Volumes from
4–19(2005–2020) were published by the Institute of Zoology, Slovak
Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.
Since the volume 20 (2021), the journal is published by the Department
of Botany and Zoology, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University.

Archiving and indexing
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca published more than 200 malacological
scientific papers. More than few of tens authors published in
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca. Neither authors nor readers have to pay
fees. Licensing politics of Malacologica Bohemoslovaca is authors
friendly. Malacologica Bohemsolovaca is the first malacological
journal, that is open access and open content since 2010.
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca articles are archived on Zenodo
and on Repozitar.cz. The
associated data is further processed and recorded by Faculty of
Informatics, Masaryk University.
Additionally, the web page of the journal is archived by the web
archive of the National Library of the Czech Republic.

Publication Ethics
Authorship and contributorship:
Please, refer to the Vancouver Convention https://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf for authorship criteria. These are:
1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
2. Drafting the work or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content; AND
3. Final approval of the version to be published; AND
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
In addition to being accountable for the parts of the work done, an author should be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for specific other parts of the work. In addition, authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their co-authors.
Contributors who meet fewer than all 4 of the above criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors, but they should be acknowledged.
The COPE guidelines https://publicationethics.org/authorship will be consulted in case of authorship disputes.
Complaints and appeals:
Complaints and appeals should be addressed to the Editor-in-chief.
Conflicts of interest:
Conflict of interest is any interest or relationship (including but not limited to financial) that might be perceived as influencing objectivity of the author. Any such interests or relationships are to be declared by the author in the submission. If there is nothing to declare, it must also be stated in the submission.

Data sharing and reproducibility:
Authors are encouraged to deposit any raw or processed data, protocols, custom scripts, etc. relevant for reproducibility of analyses in a permanent public repository (e.g., Dryad, Zenodo, etc.) or a dedicated public database. Publication of such data might be required before manuscript acceptance. All DNA/RNA sequence data must be available before publication from NCBI databases.
Ethical oversight:
Malacologica Bohemoslovaca follows guidelines as described on this page and well as it follows COPE’s guidelines.
Process for identification of and dealing with allegations of research misconduct:
Allegations of misconduct are considered on a case-by-case basis. The editorial board will consider all allegations brought to its attention. The identity of whistleblowers is kept confidential under all circumstances. COPE guidelines https://publicationethics.org/misconduct will be followed when dealing with allegations of research misconduct.
